Ten best food for super brain power



High power brain foods provide sustained energy and it includes good mix of carbohydrates, fiber, lean protein and some good fat.  Brain foods also helps to function the body to maximum, including the heart and vascular system, so it has to have low cholesterol and saturated fat and high in good fat, say high in Omega-3 fatty acids with minimally processed.  Brain food not only improves behavior and mood of person, but also reduces the chance of getting stroke, heart disease and cancer.


1. Fish
Fish is full of Omega-2 fatty acid and is highly beneficial to health.  Fish helps the brain to develop tissue for increasing brainpower.  Omega-3 coats the neurons with good fat, allowing them to move easily throughout the brain.  The best fish for higher brainpower are salmon, tuna and sardine.

2. Cocoa beans (Dark chocolate)
Scientists have proven that antioxidant found in cocoa beans is higher than many other foods.  It improves focus and concentration.

3. Nuts
All type of nuts including almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans and peanuts contain properties that will help with everything from fighting inactiveness and helps in strong memory.  Nuts are full of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, as well as folate, Vitamin E and Vitamin B6.  All nuts contain natural mood enhancement neurotransmitters.

4. Green Vegetables
Broccoli has proved to improve memory function as well as slow the aging process.  Other green vegetables such as spinach, cabbage and kale have excellent vitamins and chemicals to keep memory better and are also very high in iron content.

5. Berries
If you don’t like vegetables, you can take berries in plenty, to improve your brainpower.  Blueberry is called the best berry for brain and controls cancer effectively.  Berries contain antioxidants that greatly improve memory.  Berries can be taken with low fat yogurt for double goodness of both berry and diary.

6. Seeds
Flax seeds are a true super food, since they are full of fiber, vitamins and Omega-3.  They contain thiamine and magnesium, which are great for memory, cognitive function and brain nourishment.

7. Coffee and Tea
Regular coffee drinking has proved to reduce the risk of Alzheimer disease, which is related to slow functioning of brain.  Caffeine has enough anti-oxidant to induce the brain and when taken in moderate level is best for brain.  Black tea and green tea have low caffeine and extremely beneficial for sharp brain.  Green tea also helps to reduce the weight and high blood pressure.

8. Whole grains
From oats to whole grain bread, whole grains are super brain foods as they improve better blood circulation.  All these whole grain foods work harder to take more blood to brain so that brain in not only more active but also remain active for more time.  It is especially good for older people, as the blood circulation tends to reduce in this group of people.

9. Eggs
When taken in moderate (3 to 4 eggs per week), eggs are best for human body.  Egg is rich in Omega-3 and Vitamin B12, which fight against brain shrinkage and inactiveness.  Yolks have higher cholesterol and choline, which are important in keeping the brain cells active.  While due to higher fat, eating too many eggs may be bad for heart.

10. Avocados
Fat in avocados help better blood flow and thus brain gets more blood and keeping it to function at peak level.  Avocados have also proved to reduce the blood pressure.
